Lisa Cole

Lisa has been a pharmacist since 2011 and became interested in birth work after having an unexpected Cesarean birth with her first daughter’s birth. When she also found out that breastfeeding was not going to be as easy for her as she thought.

After researching and educating herself about VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), she enlisted the support of a doula to help her achieve a vaginal birth with her 2nd daughter’s birth. Turning to her doula (labor & postpartum) for resources to find better success with breastfeeding, she connected with a lactation consultant who helped her plan out how to approach feeding her baby the second time around. Knowing she has underdeveloped breast tissue, she knew she would have to supplement with formula, but she wanted to have the close connection that breastfeeding would bring. After her VBAC birth her doula came to stay with her in her first days home so that she could have support using a supplemental nursing system (SNS) to help supplement baby right at the breasts. This was not easy, but she worked hard to bring in a great milk supply and learn to feed her LO all at the breast.

Through her amazing journey, she learned so much that it inspired her to take the Labor doula, Postpartum & Infant care and VBAC Specialist training through ProDoula in 2021. Both of her careers require empathy and hard work which she has lots of.

She is married to her high school sweetheart and has two little wonderful girls who are her world. She love cats, audiobooks, podcasts, and learning about the history of European monarchies,. My favorite thing to do outside of work is spending time with my family.
