Newborn Care: (2 hours) the basics of newborn comfort, newborn sleep & care, swaddling, and more. We teach you countless tips and tricks for early babyhood. It is guaranteed to give you (and your partner) practical tools to make parenting easier.

Postpartum Recovery: (1 hour) We know that regardless of how you give birth your body needs time and care to heal. Addressing both your physical and mental health recovery tips and strategies for your healing. This means lots of time, rest, good nutrition and nonjudgemental support. Understanding your recovery is key to helping you get back on your feet again.

Offered ONLINE and a few Boone NC, Johnson City, TN, Abingdon, VA & Hickory, NC* every other month (approx.) Private Class also available!

EARLY POSTPARTUM | (times differ depending on location and day of the week)

Class includes attendance for you and 1 birth partner, a comprehensive resource packet.

As you learn more poses and tools your instructor (also a doula) can help you to modify them as your belly grows. Pregnancy and the postpartum period is a time of significant and rapid change for the body. With an ever-changing center of gravity, stretched abdominal muscles, more pressure on the pelvic floor, and healing from delivery, it can be helpful to have movement strategies specific to your body that you can carry into all other parts of your life.

While some of the more traditional ab-intensive Pilates exercises might not be the best choice for most pregnant and postpartum people, the Pilates principles can be used to help support safe and nourishing movement during this transformative time. A Pilates-inspired practice can help both the mind and body through:

• Improving posture and balance

• Preparing for labor and delivery

• Promoting a smoother postpartum recovery

• Strengthening the core and pelvic floor

• Reducing common pain and discomfort related to pregnancy and postpartum

• Improving breathing (it’s related to everything!)

• Promoting relaxation, regulating the nervous system, and reducing anxiety

• Increasing circulation and reducing swelling

• Encouraging a mind-body connection

• Reducing the likelihood of developing diastasis rectus (abdominal separation), incontinence, or prolapse during pregnancy, and healing from these conditions postpartum

With proper modifications and guidance from a trained instructor, Pilates can be a safe and effective way to support a healthy pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

As you learn more poses and tools your instructor can help you to modify them as your belly grows. Gain confidence in your body as you strengthen and prepare for birth. Learn to soften and breathe more easily. These skills are ones you can utilize during labor/birth or stressful times in your postpartum.

60 minutes of supported pilates instruction with individual guidance

Join our ‘not to be missed’ Push Prep class. Whether or not you plan to labor with or without medication, this workshop is guaranteed to give you (and your partner/labor support person) practical tools to use to make pushing a better experience.

Going into labor, there are a lot of misconceptions about how to properly push to deliver a baby. We see representations on TV and in movies that can subconsciously guide how we move and react. As pregnancy and postpartum experts, we have better evidence and understanding of how to protect your body during labor. When we learn how to push correctly, we can reduce the risk of severe tearing in the perineum and damage to the pelvic floor. In addition, we can learn how to push more effectively with correct muscle activation. This workshop is designed to teach pregnant women (ideally in 2nd or 3rd trimesters) how to engage core and pelvic floor muscles correctly to push during labor.

Focused Topics include:

• how to engage deep core muscles and open the pelvic floor for delivery.

• pelvic floor anatomy and its role in the labor process.

• breathing mechanics during labor and practice 360 deg breathing.

• Educate partners on how they can assist via perineal massage, warm compress, pressure to sacrum, hip internal rotation.

• mobility exercises to support the pelvis and strengthen the core.

• use of aides/tools for delivery like pillows, Swiss balls, and sheets.
