Prior to beginning my job as a doula, I studied the field of Speech Language Pathology and obtained my Master's degree. As a Speech Language Pathologist, I have learned the importance of kindness, caring and sensitivity in supporting others. I have worked with families and young children in the public school system for 6 years and continue this work part time. A calm and compassionate attitude is essential. These qualities have helped me in my role as a labor doula.
Ever since I can remember, I have been a supporter of women, and I stand in awe of the power of a woman's body when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth. As a mother of 2 girls, I credit the start of my journey into birth work to them. My birth experiences were very different from each other; however, this personal evidence of my own need for support and guidance during labor and delivery made me realize others would have a similar need.. Supporting my sister at the birth of her first child was the impotise to become a trained doula.
You will often find me outside and enjoying nature with my girls. My interest in the natural world has lead me to explore creating my own herbals.
I currently live with my 2 daughters in my hometown of Sparta, NC
