Our up-to-date curriculum is taught by an experienced, Certified Childbirth Educator. It prepares you for all of the amazing aspects of childbirth as well as for the unexpected and challenging moments you may experience.

Group Childbirth Classes:


PREPARING FOR CHILDBIRTH

6 HOURS (2 days) | $175 PER COUPLE

Long gone are the days of breathing techniques and a "one size fits all" approach to childbirth. At High Country Doulas we teach parents about many different tools, techniques, philosophies, and strategies that can be used when journeying through this beautiful, yet sometimes challenging life event.

Our up-to-date curriculum prepares you for all of the amazing aspects of childbirth. Learn about the stages of labor, comfort measures, epidurals, long labors, birth plans, and more.

Classes are interactive and help prepare the mother’s birth partner to be confident in their ability to provide comfort during labor.

Our main instructor, Samantha Lee Wright is certified to teach childbirth education through the Childbirth and Postpartum Association (CAPPA). She has been teaching childbirth classes for over 5 years and makes learning fun!

Topics include:

  • “Natural” (unmedicated) labor
  • Comfort techniques, movement, and strategies
  • Non-medical comfort tools and techniques
  • Epidurals and other pain medications
  • How partners can get involved and help with labor
  • The stages and phases of labor
  • Preparing for a Cesarean Birth
  • Writing an effective birth plan
  • Communicating your wishes to your provider and/or partner
  • What to expect in the hospital
  • Hospital interventions and alternatives
  • Packing for the hospital

PREPARING FOR BABY (Breastfeeding + Newborn Care)

6 HOURS (2 Days) | $175 PER COUPLE

Postpartum care and expectations, plus breastfeeding, bottle feeding, newborn sleep and soothing, and more. 

This interactive and engaging class teaches new parents the skills needed to care for their new baby(s) during the first 0-6 months of life as a family. This class covers newborn comforting, swaddling, sleep patterns, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, postpartum care for mom, and so much more.

Our main instructor, Samantha Lee Wright is certified to teach childbirth education through the Childbirth and Postpartum Association (CAPPA). She has been teaching childbirth classes for over 4 years and has designed her curriculum specifically for families delivering in the High Country.

  • Baby’s first hour of life
  • Bringing baby home
  • Newborn sleep patterns, comfort measures, and basic care
  • Breastfeeding
  • Bottlefeeding
  • Working moms and breastfeeding
  • Postpartum self-care and recovery
